Minimally handled to express place, this is a ravishing Pinot with an amazing energy. Handpicked and wild fermented with 30% whole bunches, and no additions bar minimal sulphur dioxide. Two weeks on skins before spending 14 months in French oak barrels, 25% new, then naturally settled in tank and bottled unfiltered.
Just wow. Incredible complexity, the kind of wine you can riff on for hours as it opens in the glass. Cloves, twigs, pine, sandalwood, mushrooms, forest floor, ferrous notes.... and that's just the nose. These themes continue through the pallet, with layers of savoury fruit, black and forest berries, smoked and fresh meats, an amazing flavour spectrum, rounding out with fine pinpoint tannins, and invigorating natural acidity. Multi-layered, and very much a food wine.
