Adam Foster takes a slice of fruit out of Owen Latta’s Coghills Creek, Ballarat vineyard and produces this wine. Aside that Foster is a die-hard Rhone fancier and outstanding sangiovese producer, he is an avid Burgundy drinker, so this is a natural progression (pinot noir) for his extension program.
A succulent, savoury pinot noir, all autumnal in dried leaf, old spice cupboard, peppery jerky meat and cranberry fruit characters. Bouquet is appealing, rich and fragrant, the palate similar and hemmed with tat work of lacy tannins that stretch long and luxuriously and delicately chewy. It’s my kinda pinot noir, set to earthiness but with just enough vigour to suck the mouth to fresh and start you again. Really good. 95pts MIKE BENNIE, www.winefront.com.au
