Over the last decade or so, Stephane Ogier has raised the bar in just about every way possible for his estate in Côte Rôtie: purchasing new vineyards, replanting existing sites, working hard to develop an AOC for Seyssuel and building a completely new cellar—all the while continuing to produce a bevy of brilliant wines. Today, the estate is unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in the Rhône Valley. JEB DUNNUCK, The Wine Advocate
We've loved this wine ever since one of our old employees discovered it on a trip to the Domaine many years ago. We were already very fond of Stephanes wines at the time, but he never thought we would be interested in his cheeky little Rhone blend - but we love it! If you haven't tried it yet, then do yourself a favour. PWS
A tank-aged blend of roughly 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah (although there are fractions of Mourvèdre and Cinsault), the 2018 Cotes du Rhone le Temps Est Venu is sourced from Plan de Dieu (two-thirds) and Visan (one-third). It's spicy and leathery up front, then opens to reveal notes of ripe cherries and garrigue. It's a solid effort, with silky tannins and a backbone of cranberryish acidity that lingers on the finish.
