"A remarkable wine this. Really. Bryan Martin and sangiovese should be shouted from the rooftops. I often think sangiovese is his opus magnum. This one is from his home farm, organically raised by Bryan and family. It sees six months on skins (!) and two years in foudre. There’s so many dry reds from Australian Italian grape variety wines, pushing tannin, extract, power, this defies so much of that. Quite a thing. Bryan Martin, the Pizzini family and Adam Foster the poster children of sangio in Aus.
"Sour cherry, cranberry, a bit of sweet spice, fennel. Pretty but with plenty to savour. The texture gets you. The freshness too. Energy is an appropriate word. Understated and wonderful in that way. We’re dealing with such purity and vibrancy here. Keeps me at the glass. Welcome to sangio dress circle." 95pts MIKE BENNIE, www.winefront.com.au
This is also from our estate, naturally farmed on the same duplex soils, with vine age of almost 20 years now. The fruit was processed as whole berries (no pumps used), a natural ferment that wasn't messed around with too much. It was left on skins for six months then matured in a François Frères 2800L foudre. Producer notes
"..Outstanding. Fine boned, pretty and elegant, mind-bending how light the wine is despite the curl ..
